When Child and Youth Counselling Can Help

Children and youth can experience a wide range of emotional and mental health concerns, including:

  • Anxiety, worry, panic, or school-related stress
  • Low mood, sadness, or withdrawal
  • Difficulty regulating emotions (big feelings, meltdowns, irritability)
  • Self-esteem and confidence concerns
  • Friendship and social challenges
  • Family conflict, separation or divorce, or changes at home
  • Transitions (moving, changing schools, major life events)

Counselling offers a structured space to understand what’s going on beneath the surface and to practice skills that support emotional well-being at home, at school, and in relationships.

Our Approach

Our counsellors use evidence-based, developmentally appropriate approaches tailored to each child or teen’s needs. Depending on age and goals, therapy may include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Creative expression techniques (for younger clients who communicate best through play, art, or movement)
  • Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
  • EMDR
